Music - 2009

the new Conor album has leaked, and i've been listening for a couple of days now. it's got songs written and sung by other band members now. one of them, every time i listened to it, i thought 'that it such a Conor song'. but i thought it was probably just that they wrote similar melodies, cos they're in the same band etc etc. i mean, it'scredited as that other guys song on Wiki.

but today the free Documentary (basically explaining the transition from Conor Oberst,with backing band,to Conor Oberst and the Mystic Valley Band, fully fledged singwriting participants). and it says Conor Oberst wrote a song for one of the guys to sing cos he hadn't. and it was that one.

SSo i'm really chuffed that i recognised his songwriting style enough to already question that.i give myself madprops.

life and death? that seems quite elementary for TDH. still, i can't wait for this. after getting some more dear hunter/treos demos/bsides from that site the other day, i have been loving casey the last few days.

dredg are playing a one-off UK show in june. it's london though. i dont think i like them enough to travel that far. shame, coz i would like to see them.

what, this year? they are pretty darn prolific... i heard they wrote over 100 songs for one of their albums and whittled it down to 12, which is ridiculous.

what do you make of those two songs i gave you by them?

Hi Everyone.
I just wanted to drop in and let you know what I've been up to. Summer 2009 is coming around the corner fast and I'll be out on the road in the US with Incubus for about six weeks. Also, Ashley Mendel, who a bunch of you might know from playing bass and singing on my solo tour, is set to release his first solo record on..... drum roll please..... Ghetto Crush Industries. As for me, I've been playing drums in Ashley's band, getting ready to tour with Incubus and working on my next album. I have no release date yet but I can tell you the music is halfway done. This record is shaping up to be my favorite music I've ever recorded and I can't wait to share it with you. As of today, the plan is to release an album with a 30 minute DVD later this year. The DVD has been in the works for a while and I think it'll be worth the wait. I hope you'll eventually agree.

mr sigur ros frontman is apparently releasing a solo album which he recorded with his boyfriend sometime this summer. called 'riceboy sleeps', and apparently it's all acoustic instrumental stuff. could be good.
