Bagatelle: Sport of Kings, King of Sports |
|
it only seems fitting that the first post of '09 is on the topic of something that has become as staple of the new year celebration: Bagatelle. how was the game created? i do not know. legend has it that the fabled board has been passed down through the generations. all i know is, this year it stepped up. this is a collection of the phrases uttered by stunned players and spectators as they tried to get their feeble minds round the complexities of the game.
Joey: a bagatelle ball
Small Roses: basically 5 points, in the 5 point boundary at the top of the arena.
All the 50s: a signature move of the hermans, in which the player gets a lot of 50s.
Economy Buy-Back: when you win, or buy-back, less than 3 Joeys that you have failed to score with. this is achieved by landing a Joey in the exclusive buy-back enclosures near the bottom of the arena.
Premium Buy-Back: winning back 3 or more joeys that you have failed to score with. the method is the same as an economy buy-back, however the consequences could be utterly more game-changing.
remember, anything can happen in the bagatelle gaming arena. and invariably, it does. guard your Joeys people.

dropping a standard 50 is also known as 'one in the onion bag'.
top players are referred to as 50Machines if they get lots of Joeys in the onion bag.
when a Joey is fired with sufficient weakness to allow it to return to the firing zone, it is known as a Homesick Joey.
