i've downloaded muchos music(os) over the last ever, always with the thought:

'i'm too poor to buy it. if i love it, i'll buy it when ich habe das moneys.'

which has turned out to be true for a few things. Dear Hunter, at least. and the Divine Comedy, when it comes to charity shops. but NOW, i have a job. so i need to actually do this and start buying some CDs.

there's not loads of stuff i want on CD, but then again, there might be.

i'll mainly stick to inspiring musicians who don't sell millions. plus i need to get my incubus back-catalogue back up to (not scratched) scratch.

i'm going to buy a CD every month. that's no big deal, so i won't be tempted to miss it if i need to buy other things. it'll be like having a One Man Christmas every month.

IN FACT::

The 21st of every month (like today) is now, officially, One Man Christmas Day. i'm going to buy myself a CD that i want on the 21st of evry month. i can't wait.

February will be GavCaz, obv.

Potential artists to buy are Gatsbys, Manchester Orchestra, earlier Castleton, Conor Oberst/Bright Eyes, Good Old War, Faker. other stuff like Apes and Androids, Bend Sinister.

this might carry on for more than a year.

and hey, i can buy more than one a month if i decide to. like rich kids at Christmas.

if i hadn't started this thread, though, this would never have got beyond the planning ('hey, i want music') stage.

i want to hold you to this. what did you buy today?

bear in mind that you'll constantly be finding new stuff you want on cd, so don't go thinking the list is finite. good idea though.

absolutely. it's gonna be fun balancing newer stuff with older stuff-- older stuff is more guaranteed to be as good as i think it is, there'll be no six-months-later selling the cd to Cash Converters. (they convert Things into Cash, and vice versa. this is somehow unlike other shops.). newer stuff is more exciting, and gonna spend more time in the actual CD player immediately.

please keep me to this.

today i ordered Volcano by GAD.

really, i should do this tomorrow, but i got paid today, so i thought 'what the heckandjeff'.

i just ordered:
Faker- Addicted Romantic
Bright Eyes- Cassadaga
Manchester Orchestra- I'm Like A Virgin Losing A Child

for a grand total of £20.36 inc. p&p.

i got a bit carried away, but still, that's pretty cheap. i would've got a GavCaz one too if a) the shipping from the Gruvis store wasn't rediculous and b) CDbaby don't take Maestro.

a good band. slightly philrock, but in an AP.net way. kinda riffy guitars, and singer with a great gravelly voice.
